Pride and Prejudice

My previous movie reviews was on a true love romantic story “The Notebook” and the same way this movie “Pride and Prejudice” is one romantic tale .Pride and Prejudice is a classic romance and I like this movie a lot as I’m a huge fan of Jane Austin (Author of Pride and Prejudice). Movie depicts late 18th century England and its culture. The two main characters in this film are Keira Knightley (Elizabeth Bennet) and Matthew Macfadyen (Mr. Darcy) and the director of this movie is Joe Wright.
The movie goes like this…… The Bennets famliy to whom Elizabeth (Lizzy) belongs is a middle class family with five daughters. Lizzy’s mother character is a pestering type who always laments on getting any of her children married off to a wealthy person. The eldest daughter (Jane) is considered the most beautiful in the family and gains attention from a wealthy noble Mr. Bingley in a ball. Same way, lively and independent Lizzy attracts wealthy well-bred Mr. Darcy who is aloof and proud personality. The cutest part is when both the personalities clash and Mr.Darcy insults Lizzy by comparing their class differences. Lizzy develops an instant hatred towards him due his rude behavior and shifts her attention towards a handsome soldier who eventually elopes with her younger sister. Lizzy always dreams of love marriage and has an independent way of thinking from the conservative England society at that time. Mr.Darcy hides his love towards Lizzy and puts up a false face by insulting her. The beauty of the moment is when Mr.Darcy leaves his pride and proposes to her in the end. The backdrop was breathtaking and wonderful moment during his proposal. Lizzy and Mr.Darcy share an amazing spark between them but both fight with each other to ignore that.
In my opinion, this movie is definitely a movie to watch and enjoy the Victorian style romance. I don’t know how far men will like this movie as it mainly spins around woman but for me it’s on my top 10 favorite movie list. Every time I watch the movie I get so engrossed, I forget the time.

Nostalgic – “The Notebook”

Most of us love writing a diary and reading it brings about sweet memories. Same way, this movie is like reading a diary of two lovers in my point of view. We get to watch only few movies with real meaning for Love and this movie is one among them. The notebook is one classic romance with depicts depth of love. The movie was directed by Nick Cassavetes, starring Ryan Gosling (Noah) and Rachel McAdams (Allie) and this movie is based on a novel by Nicholas Park. My previous blogs were on "My little Bride"and "Tangled" which were romantic comedies unlike this gentle romatic story with no comedies.
In this story, love birds Allie and Noah meet up in a Carnival and for Noah it is “Love at first sight”. He falls irrevocably in love with Allie and chases her throughout the carnival. He tries charming her and it works. Allie is a 17 year old girl who’s on summer vacation at Noah’s town. After the first meeting, Allie is drawn to him and both share a wonderful romance. All the sweet things come to an end as Allie’s wealthy mother object poor country boy-Noah. Noah gets angry when Allie’s mother calls him ‘Trash” and so he breaks up with Allie. Later regrets his mistake and tries make up with Allie who leaves the town heartbroken. Noah writes to her every day for a year and gets no reply as Allie’s mother hides it. After seven years of waiting, Allie gets engaged to a wealthy Soldier and gets busy for her wedding. She accidently sees Noah’s Advertisement and decided to make a visit to his new house. Noah builds this house for his lost love but doesn’t have the heart to sell it. Allie and Noah shares a same spark even after seven years separation and Allie gets to know that her mother has played a wicked role in their separation. Now, she has to decide whether to go for her “first love” or a wealthy soldier. At last she decides to be with Noah and the story goes as an old man reading this story everyday to an old woman who is suffering from dementia. The real suspense is that the old man who is reading that diary is Noah and the old woman is Allie. As she is suffering from deteriorating memory, he reads to her this story everyday and relishes those ten minutes during which she get backs her memory. One fine day, Noah doesn’t come to read her stories as he gets a heart attack and forced to bed rest. During the night time, he quietly sneaks into Allie’s bed and to his surprise Allie remembers him. The most touching moment in this movie is when both peacefully die in sleep as Allie wishes, even death can part them.
It might sound as a usual love story but the way it is portrayed and they way the characters have lived up to the character will surely make you teary eyed in the end. What I really liked is, Noah’s faith that he will surely get his sweet Allie and the way he cares for her even in his old age. The movie is all sweet and romantic but I feel this kind of love is impossible in reality. The movie is one feel good movie to watch in my opinion with so much emotion and love.
